A newsletter regarding the works that have taken place at Seymour will be issued during September 2024. We can now confirm that the Principal Contractor is on site to carry out enabling work which is required to facilitate the execution of the main contract.

Dear Resident/ Interested Party of the Seymour Leisure Centre,

We thought we would send an update to keep you in the loop with all the goings on re Seymour Leisure Centre. Since closing, works have been proceeding as planned, with daily activity on the site.

Firstly, due to the nature of the project and the condition of the building, works have started with carrying out a number of surveys prior to construction commencing.  Given that some of these surveys such as intrusive asbestos surveys and intrusive structural surveys require full access to the entire site, the Council had to close the Centre in February to give adequate time and access to complete the work.  In other words, these surveys could not have taken place whilst the building remained open.

The Council is currently finalising the construction contract with the aim of the main construction work starting on site in July. The results of the surveys have determined the extent of the required enabling/preparation works. The scope has now been finalised and the Council is aiming to start this element prior to July.  Residents may notice some internal and external construction activity next month in order to ensure that the site is ready to start the main construction activity in July.

A day to remember,

To celebrate the closure of the Seymour Centre, Westminster City Council and Everyone Active came together and  worked with users of the centre to create a day of remembrance. This included meeting the project team and our contractor resident liaison officer from Wilmott  Dixon. The event ended with a tour around the building providing users a better visual understanding of how the refurbishment will better the centre especially areas that are not in use.   Notice Boards were placed at reception and by the pool side  for users to leave personal messages.
